Toyota Motor Corporation, based in Toyota City, Japan, revealed plans last week to inject an extra $1.3 billion into expanding electric vehicle (EV) production at its Kentucky plant. This move aligns with ongoing Industrial Manufacturing projects in Kentucky, currently totaling $13.75 billion, with approximately $10 billion dedicated to EV initiatives, as monitored by Industrial Info Resources.
Toyota’s investment of $1.3 billion in its Georgetown plant, the company’s largest global production facility, aims to facilitate the assembly of a new three-row battery electric SUV for the U.S. market. The expansion includes the addition of a battery pack assembly line, with a tentative project kickoff date of January 2025. This investment follows a $500 million upgrade project for EV production, starting in March.
