S&K Aerospace Secures $4.3 Billion U.S. Air Force PROS 7 Contract
S&K Aerospace, LLC has been selected by the U.S. Air Force for the Parts and Repair Ordering System 7 (PROS 7) contract, a potential $4.3 billion single-award Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) agreement designed to provide supply, repair and logistics support to Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers around the world. The contract represents a major milestone for S&K Aerospace and builds on the company’s more than 15 years of experience supporting the PROS mission. Through the new agreement, the company will continue providing solutions for aviation components and other difficult-to-source items that cannot be supplied efficiently through traditional U.S. Government channels.
The PROS 7 program is intended to help U.S. military FMS customers obtain non-standard and difficult-to-support parts, maintenance services and related logistics assistance. These requirements can involve aging, obsolete or specialized components for which conventional procurement sources may not be able to provide timely support.
Supporting Global Military Supply Requirements
Under PROS 7, S&K Aerospace will serve as a U.S. Government source for eligible supply, maintenance and task-order requirements associated with FMS customers from the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army and U.S. Navy. The program is particularly important for customers that depend on continued access to components and repair services for military equipment. As platforms remain in service for extended periods, sourcing replacement components can become increasingly challenging, particularly when original manufacturers have discontinued production or when parts are no longer readily available through conventional supply channels.
Through its PROS operations, S&K Aerospace has developed capabilities focused on identifying suppliers, sourcing hard-to-find components, coordinating repairs and managing logistics requirements. The company’s experience with these specialized requirements positions it to continue supporting customers under the new contract. The PROS 7 agreement has a maximum 10-year ordering period, consisting of an initial one-year base period followed by nine one-year option periods. After the ordering period, the contract also includes a three-year closeout period.
The structure gives the U.S. Government an extended framework for placing orders as requirements arise while providing S&K Aerospace with an opportunity to maintain and expand its support capabilities over the life of the program.
Focus on Timely and Reliable Support
A central objective of PROS 7 is to improve the ability of customers to receive required materials and services in a timely and cost-effective manner. The program’s primary objectives include efficient requisition processing, competitive pricing, accurate customer support, quality materiel and effective program management. These priorities are particularly significant when customers require specialized components that may not be readily available through traditional procurement channels.
For S&K Aerospace, the new award also provides an opportunity to build on processes and relationships developed through previous generations of the PROS program. The company has supported the mission through PROS IV and PROS V, gaining extensive experience in sourcing and repairing aging, obsolete and otherwise difficult-to-support components for international customers. That experience has contributed to the company’s understanding of the complex supply and repair requirements associated with global military aviation and defense programs.S&K Aerospace plans to use that experience as the foundation for its work under PROS 7 while continuing to develop its processes, technology and supplier network.
Experience Built Over More Than 15 Years
The PROS 7 award follows years of work by S&K Aerospace employees supporting earlier iterations of the program.Tony Amadeo, President of S&K Aerospace, credited the company’s current and former PROS teams with creating the foundation that helped the organization secure the latest contract.
Amadeo highlighted the contributions of employees across business development and proposal activities, pricing, contracts, human resources, information technology and information resource management, quality, technical operations and other areas of the organization. He also emphasized that the company’s success in securing PROS 7 was connected to the performance of teams that supported earlier PROS contracts. According to Amadeo, those teams helped establish customer confidence, supplier relationships and the reputation that S&K Aerospace brought to the latest competition. The award therefore represents more than a new contract for the company. It extends a longstanding mission and allows S&K Aerospace to continue working with customers and suppliers that have been part of its PROS operations for many years.
Expanding the Aerospace Business Unit
PROS has become an important component of S&K Aerospace’s Aerospace Business Unit. The PROS 7 award gives the business unit an opportunity to maintain that role while developing its capabilities for future requirements.Dave Rariden, General Manager of S&K’s Aerospace Business Unit, said the new contract reflects years of consistent performance from employees supporting the program.
The business unit has developed experience working with customers that face complex sourcing and repair challenges. Maintaining these capabilities will be important as military operators continue to manage fleets and equipment that may include components with limited commercial availability.Under PROS 7, S&K Aerospace can continue strengthening the processes and supplier relationships that support these requirements. The company also intends to advance its use of technology and improve engagement with its supplier community as the program moves forward.
PROS Team Recognized for Performance
The contract is also being viewed internally as recognition of the employees who have managed the day-to-day demands of the PROS mission.Melanie Brooks, Director of PROS, expressed pride in the team responsible for supporting thousands of challenging supply and repair requirements over the years.
Those requirements can demand significant coordination because a single order may involve locating specialized material, identifying an appropriate supplier or repair source, confirming quality requirements and arranging delivery to an international customer. The accumulated experience of the PROS team provides S&K Aerospace with a knowledge base that can be carried into the new contract period. The company expects PROS 7 to create opportunities to continue improving how these requirements are managed while maintaining the service standards expected by customers.
Significance for S&K Technologies and CSKT
The significance of the PROS 7 award extends beyond S&K Aerospace’s Aerospace Business Unit. S&K Aerospace is a subsidiary of S&K Technologies, Inc., an enterprise owned by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT).The contract therefore represents an important business achievement for the wider S&K Technologies organization and its Tribal shareholder.
Chad Cottet, Chief Executive Officer of S&K Technologies, said the size and scope of the award are significant because the company’s performance contributes to long-term economic value for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. The company views the continued success of S&K Aerospace as an opportunity to support the economic objectives of its Tribal shareholder while continuing to deliver services to U.S. Government and international customers. For S&K Technologies, the PROS 7 award demonstrates the potential for its operating companies to compete for and execute large-scale government programs while contributing to the broader organization.
Ahead Under PROS 7
With a potential value of $4.3 billion and an ordering structure that can extend for up to 10 years, PROS 7 establishes a significant long-term framework for S&K Aerospace. The contract will require the company to maintain its focus on supply availability, repair capabilities, customer service, pricing and program management. Its responsibilities will include supporting eligible requirements from FMS customers associated with the U.S. Air Force, Army and Navy.
The company’s previous experience under PROS IV and PROS V provides a foundation for the new program. At the same time, S&K Aerospace expects to use PROS 7 to further develop its technology, operational processes and supplier engagement. The award comes at a time when maintaining reliable access to replacement components and repair services remains an important consideration for military operators managing complex and long-lived equipment. Specialized sourcing programs such as PROS can help address requirements that fall outside conventional government supply channels.
For international military customers, access to timely parts and repair support can play an important role in sustaining equipment and meeting operational requirements. S&K Aerospace’s role under PROS 7 will place the company at the center of those specialized supply and maintenance activities. The contract also provides continuity for a program that S&K Aerospace has supported for more than a decade. The knowledge gained from previous contracts, combined with the company’s supplier relationships and technical capabilities, will form a key part of its approach to PROS 7.
Ultimately, the award marks a new phase in S&K Aerospace’s long-running support of the PROS mission. With a potential 10-year ordering period, the company will have an extended opportunity to provide supply, maintenance and logistics solutions for difficult-to-support requirements while strengthening its position within the aerospace and defense services market. For S&K Aerospace and S&K Technologies, the $4.3 billion PROS 7 contract represents both a continuation of an established government support mission and a significant opportunity for future growth.
