GXO Logistics, Inc., the world’s premier pure-play contract logistics provider, has announced significant leadership changes to propel its global growth strategy. Richard Cawston, currently serving as President of Europe, takes on the newly established role of Chief Revenue Officer. Additionally, GXO strengthens its Sales division in the Americas and Asia Pacific with the appointment of Eric Spadafora as the head of sales for these regions.
As the CRO, reporting directly to CEO Malcolm Wilson, Richard Cawston assumes a pivotal global role overseeing sales strategy. This includes identifying priority customer segments, verticals, and markets. The CRO will enhance sales pipeline management and centralize account management for customers engaging with GXO across multiple sites and countries, maximizing the company’s global scale, expertise, and value proposition. Cawston will lead GXO’s Commercial teams, including sales operations, customer account management, and business development.
Malcolm Wilson, CEO of GXO, emphasized the strategic alignment of the organization to accelerate growth, stating, “Richard brings the right blend of operational expertise, a deep understanding of customer needs, and a proven track record of developing long-term customer relationships rooted in continuous value creation to leverage the full power of our footprint to drive business growth.”
With over two decades in the logistics industry, Cawston has held key positions at XPO Logistics Europe and Norbert Dentressangle’s flagship operations in the U.K. and Ireland. As President of Europe for GXO since 2018, he has overseen operations in 14 countries with around 500 warehouses, catering to leading brands across various sectors.
Eric Spadafora, joining GXO from Logitech, brings a wealth of experience as Vice President and head of business sales. His background includes successful roles at MCI and Verizon, where he achieved industry-leading customer satisfaction, record sales growth, and strong employee engagement. Leveraging expertise gained from GXO’s acquisition of PFSweb in October 2023, Spadafora aims to deepen GXO’s presence in high-growth verticals, particularly in North America.
GXO continues its growth trajectory with a diversified sales pipeline across operating geographies and consumer and industrial verticals. As of the third quarter of 2023, GXO has secured $841 million in new business through strategic contract wins.
