Air India and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have significantly expanded their codeshare partnership, adding 11 Indian cities and 40 international destinations to their joint network. This marks the first major expansion of codeshare arrangements between the two airlines since 2010, providing travelers with more convenient options for flying between Singapore, India, and beyond.
Starting October 27, 2024, Air India and SIA will codeshare on each other’s flights between Singapore and the Indian cities of Bengaluru and Chennai. This will boost their weekly scheduled codeshare services between the two countries from 14 to 56.
SIA will also codeshare on Air India’s domestic routes, offering connections between Delhi and cities such as Amritsar, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Lucknow, and Varanasi, as well as between Mumbai and key cities like Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Goa, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Thiruvananthapuram. Additionally, travelers can access flights between Kolkata and Guwahati through this expanded arrangement.
Air India customers will be able to connect to 29 international destinations across SIA’s network. These include major cities in Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Existing codeshare connections to Kuala Lumpur are also part of this expansion.
SIA customers, in turn, will benefit from enhanced connectivity on Air India’s international routes, gaining access to 12 destinations in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa via Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai. These destinations include cities like Copenhagen, Paris, Frankfurt, Milan, Nairobi, Amsterdam, Jeddah, Riyadh, Colombo, Birmingham, and both London-Gatwick and London-Heathrow.
The airlines plan to gradually include additional destinations in their network to the codeshare agreements, subject to regulatory approvals. Flights under the expanded codeshare will be progressively available for booking through both airlines’ platforms.
Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer of Air India, stated, “This expansion enhances our global network and offers our guests more options for travel. Our partnership with Singapore Airlines has been long-standing, and we are excited to provide expanded connectivity to destinations across South East Asia, the Far East, and Australasia. We also look forward to welcoming Singapore Airlines passengers on our flights within India and westward to Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.”
Lee Lik Hsin, Chief Commercial Officer of Singapore Airlines, added, “This expansion reflects the strong collaboration between our carriers and our commitment to meeting the growing demand for air travel between India and Singapore. It also offers our customers greater connectivity within India, a key market for the SIA Group.
