CSX (NASDAQ: CSX) has granted Platinum CSX Select Site status to RailPort Logistics Mobile, a 500+ acre logistics park located in Mobile, Alabama. This designation recognizes development-ready sites within the CSX network that have completed essential land use and due diligence requirements, making them ideal for manufacturers looking to reduce setup times and swiftly bring products to market.
Mobile’s strategic growth as an industrial hub, boosted by recent expansions at the Port of Mobile, makes RailPort Logistics Mobile an attractive option for industries needing rail access and proximity to port facilities. The site is ideally located less than three miles from two Interstate 10 interchanges, allowing easy access to transport routes.
The first phase of development by Scannell Properties will concentrate on 390 acres, with 149 acres reserved for conservation. Plans include nine industrial buildings, four of which will have rail service provided by CSX. Scannell also intends to invest $15 million in transportation infrastructure improvements that will support both RailPort and the nearby Todd Acres Industrial Park.
The CSX Select Site program, launched in 2012 in partnership with Austin Consulting, certifies properties that meet rigorous standards, including availability of utilities and infrastructure, environmental compliance, and proximity to highways and rail networks. To date, CSX Select Sites have attracted numerous manufacturers, with projected capital investments reaching $17.7 billion and creating nearly 14,000 jobs.
RailPort Logistics Mobile now joins three other Platinum CSX Select Sites in Alabama and is among only 28 properties nationwide to meet CSX’s stringent certification criteria.
