Syngenta Crop Protection, a global leader in agricultural innovation, and Maersk, a major logistics integrator, have announced a five-year extension of their fourth-party logistics (4PL) partnership. This renewed agreement highlights both companies’ dedication to responsible logistics through ongoing supply chain optimization and innovation.
The 4PL model expands on traditional third-party logistics by managing resources, technology, infrastructure, and other logistics providers to deliver customized supply chain solutions. This approach is central to Maersk’s Logistics & Services offerings and plays a key role in its strategy to deliver comprehensive supply chain management, from factory to final destination.
Sustainability remains a core focus of the partnership, with both Syngenta and Maersk committed to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the supply chain. Maersk aims for net-zero GHG emissions across its entire business by 2040, while Syngenta continues to decarbonize its operations and set clear sustainability goals. The collaboration involves regular emissions reporting and ongoing discussions on sustainability metrics as essential performance indicators.
Over the past eight years, the Syngenta-Maersk partnership has effectively navigated major global disruptions, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Red Sea crisis, while enhancing supply chain resilience and finding ways to reduce Syngenta’s GHG emissions.
“We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Maersk,” said Mike Hollands, Global Head of Production & Supply at Syngenta Crop Protection. “Both companies prioritize sustainability and innovation, and we look forward to new achievements as we continue to develop solutions that optimize our supply chains with digital logistics and AI.”
Dimitris Armenakis, Global Head of Managed by Maersk Product, added, “Our journey with Syngenta reinforces Maersk’s position as an integrated logistics provider. We aim to simplify and optimize supply chains, innovating to add further value to our customers’ businesses.”
The extended partnership underscores Syngenta’s and Maersk’s commitment to advancing sustainable, resilient, and innovative supply chain solutions in the industry.
