We’re thrilled to be recognized once again by Car and Driver on its prestigious 10Best Trucks and SUVs list for the second consecutive year,” expressed Olabisi Boyle, Vice President of Product Planning and Mobility Strategy at Hyundai Motor North America. The significance of this recognition is amplified, considering that trucks and SUVs account for a substantial 80 percent of new-vehicle purchases in America today.
Boyle continued, “Car and Driver’s editors have reaffirmed the IONIQ 5’s standing as a top-tier SUV, highlighting its impressive range, sleek design, superior technology, and best-in-class ultra-fast charging capabilities. This acknowledgment solidifies the IONIQ 5 as an excellent choice for discerning SUV enthusiasts. Notably, the IONIQ 5 has earned its place as one of the most-awarded EVs in the market.”
According to Tony Quiroga, Editor-in-Chief at Car and Driver, the IONIQ 5’s fast charging speeds and responsive acceleration contribute to its continued success. However, what sets it apart this year is its exceptional combination of value, space, refinement, and efficiency, surpassing other five-passenger SUVs.
Car and Driver’s 10Best list is a hallmark accolade that transcends the current year, allowing previous winners the opportunity to defend their positions. To be eligible for the 10Best recognition, vehicles must be available for purchase in January 2024 and have a starting price (including federal tax and destination charges) below $110,000. The rigorous selection process involves Car and Driver editors driving over 80 new cars, trucks, and SUVs meeting these criteria for two weeks. Each vehicle receives a score from zero to 100, with the votes tallied and averaged to determine the 10Best of 2024.
