Porter Airlines Expands Atlantic Canada Service to Charlottetown and Deer Lake
Porter Airlines is continuing its strategic expansion across Atlantic Canada by introducing new seasonal flights connecting Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) with Charlottetown Airport (YYG) and Deer Lake Regional Airport (YDF). These new routes will enhance connectivity for travelers looking to explore Prince Edward Island and Western Newfoundland and Labrador, providing additional options for both business and leisure passengers.
New Routes and Schedule
Starting in June 2025, Porter will launch its seasonal services, offering direct flights between Toronto Pearson and Deer Lake, as well as between Toronto Pearson and Charlottetown. The Toronto Pearson–Deer Lake route is set to commence on June 10, 2025, with three weekly roundtrip flights operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Meanwhile, the Toronto Pearson–Charlottetown service will begin on June 13, 2025, with four weekly roundtrips scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Both routes will be serviced by Porter’s modern Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, which features 132 seats in an all-economy class configuration. This aircraft is known for its fuel efficiency, quiet operation, and comfortable seating layout, ensuring a pleasant journey for passengers. Unlike traditional economy seating found on many airlines, Porter’s two-by-two seating arrangement means there are no middle seats, providing a more spacious and enjoyable travel experience.

The seasonal nature of these routes means that service to Deer Lake will conclude on September 13, 2025, while flights to Charlottetown will run until September 14, 2025. However, passengers will still be able to access these destinations through Porter’s existing network via other Eastern Canada hubs.
Enhanced Travel Experience on Porter Airlines
Porter Airlines has built a reputation for providing an elevated economy experience, and these new routes will continue that tradition. Passengers will benefit from a range of premium amenities, setting Porter apart from competitors in the regional airline industry.

- Complimentary WiFi: All passengers can enjoy fast, free in-flight streaming WiFi, allowing them to stay connected throughout their trip.
- Premium Snacks & Beverages: Porter provides complimentary beer and wine served in real glassware, along with a curated selection of premium Canadian snacks, enhancing the overall onboard experience.

Those opting for the PorterClassic fare can customize their journey by selecting individual add-ons to tailor their travel experience.
Strategic Connectivity and Expanded Network
Porter Airlines’ expansion in Atlantic Canada is part of a broader strategy to increase connectivity across its growing North American network. In addition to these new routes, Porter operates existing services from other Eastern Canada hubs using its 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft. These flights include:
- Ottawa (YOW) → Charlottetown (YYG): Offering up to twice-daily year-round service.
- Halifax (YHZ) → Deer Lake (YDF): A seasonal service during the summer months.
With the introduction of the new routes from Toronto Pearson, passengers traveling to and from Charlottetown and Deer Lake will also have access to connecting flights to major destinations across Canada, including Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Montréal, and Ottawa. This extended network provides travelers with more options and flexibility, making Porter a convenient choice for both domestic and transcontinental travel.
Industry and Local Support for the Expansion
Porter Airlines’ expansion into Charlottetown and Deer Lake has been met with enthusiasm from both airport authorities and local business communities, highlighting the economic and tourism benefits these new routes will bring.
Porter Airlines’ expansion into Charlottetown and Deer Lake marks another milestone in the airline’s commitment to strengthening its presence in Atlantic Canada. With a focus on providing a superior travel experience through its no-middle-seat policy, complimentary WiFi, and premium onboard service, Porter continues to differentiate itself in the competitive airline market. The introduction of these routes not only provides increased accessibility for travelers but also supports local economies and tourism industries in Prince Edward Island and Western Newfoundland and Labrador. As Porter grows its North American network, passengers can look forward to more connectivity, convenience, and comfort when flying with the airline.
