Glenfarne Energy Transition Advances Texas LNG Project with Key Permits

Texas LNG, a subsidiary of  Glenfarne Energy Transition, LLC, has successfully obtained Section 10 and Section 404 permits from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and state-level approval from the Railroad Commission of Texas for its 4 MTPA LNG export terminal in the Port of Brownsville. These crucial permits, obtained under The Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972, mark a significant step towards the final investment decision.

The company recently announced a Heads of Agreement (HOA) with EQT Corporation for natural gas liquefaction services, covering 0.5 MTPA of LNG. Negotiations for the remaining project volumes are in advanced stages, with further agreements expected soon.

Brendan Duval, CEO and Founder of Glenfarne Energy Transition expressed confidence in concluding the commercialization of Texas LNG by the first half of 2024. With all necessary permits, including those from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Department of Energy, Duval believes Texas LNG is among the most attractive options for contracting U.S. LNG.

Glenfarne has forged partnerships with Baker Hughes and  ABB, representing significant equipment selections for the project. Project financing is expected to be finalized in 2024, paving the way for construction to commence later in the year. The first LNG exports from Texas LNG are anticipated in 2028.

Designed as one of the lowest-emitting export terminals globally, Texas LNG aims to provide reliable, responsibly sourced U.S. LNG, contributing to the global energy transition to renewables and enhancing energy security.
