The prestigious Vince Lombardi Trophy made its grand entrance into Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII on Wednesday, courtesy of FedEx, the NFL’s Official Delivery Service. The trophy, symbolizing the pinnacle of football achievement, was transported to the Super Bowl Experience Presented by Toyota in a FedEx Express delivery van. This marks a historic moment as Las Vegas and Nevada prepare to host The Big Game for the first time, featuring the showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
Expressing pride in the responsibility bestowed upon FedEx, Brian Philips, EVP, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at FedEx, stated, “FedEx is honored to be trusted with the delivery of the Vince Lombardi Trophy ahead of Super Bowl LVIII. We make a lot of special deliveries at FedEx, and this is no exception. We’re proud to once again deliver one of sports most-coveted trophies.”
The special delivery team included Bob Fini, a seasoned FedEx Express courier with 37 years of service and multiple Nevada State Truck Driving Championships, NFL Hall of Famer and 3-time Super Bowl Champion Jerry Rice, and FedEx-HBCU Student Ambassador Chanelle Houston. Rice and Houston, both alumni of Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU), had the privilege of officially receiving the Vince Lombardi Trophy at the Super Bowl Experience Presented by Toyota. They showcased the trophy, inviting attendees to capture a moment with the iconic symbol.
Football enthusiasts in the Las Vegas area can get an up-close view of the trophy at the Super Bowl Experience Presented by Toyota from Wednesday, Feb. 7, to Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. The trophy will be awarded to either the Kansas City Chiefs or the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, Feb. 11, crowning the Super Bowl LVIII Champion for the 2023-2024 NFL season.
Peter O’Reilly, NFL EVP of Club Business and League Events, emphasized the thrill for football fans nationwide to witness the legendary Vince Lombardi Trophy up close at the Super Bowl Experience. He praised FedEx’s reliable and timely delivery, which remains an essential part of the annual Super Bowl Week festivities.
