ACEL Power Partners with En-Syst to Expand Electric Marine Propulsion in Southeast Asia
ACEL Power Inc., a pioneering Canadian manufacturer of advanced electric propulsion systems for the marine industry, has taken a significant step in its global expansion strategy by securing a new distribution agreement with Singapore-based En-Syst Equipment & Services Pte Ltd. This newly formed partnership grants En-Syst the exclusive rights to distribute ACEL Power’s full product lineup within Singapore and key ASEAN markets, including Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and other high-potential territories across the region.
The collaboration signals ACEL Power’s formal and strategic entry into the burgeoning Southeast Asian marine electrification market—one of the world’s most dynamic and promising regions for next-generation maritime technologies. The move also reflects the growing urgency among ASEAN nations to modernize their marine fleets, reduce carbon emissions, and meet new regulatory standards with cleaner, quieter, and smarter marine transportation solutions.
Tapping into One of the World’s Largest Electric Marine Markets
Southeast Asia is a unique region defined by vast coastlines, archipelagic nations, and millions of people who depend on water transport for daily commuting, commerce, tourism, and logistics. From short-haul ferries and water taxis to dive boats and eco-resort shuttles, the region has long relied on internal combustion engine (ICE) vessels that contribute to coastal pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, and high operational costs due to volatile fuel prices and intensive maintenance demands.
Recognizing the opportunity to transform this traditional sector, governments across ASEAN are implementing bold maritime sustainability initiatives. These include low-emission marine corridors, incentives for vessel electrification, and tightening emissions standards for commercial and public fleet operators. At the same time, private operators—from tour boat companies to ferry services and marina developers—are increasingly seeking alternatives that improve performance while aligning with environmental goals.
According to a recent report published by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), electric propulsion systems are projected to power as much as 50% of small- to mid-sized marine vessels in Southeast Asia by 2035, driven by falling battery costs, advances in charging infrastructure, and regional policy support for decarbonization.
This growing demand for zero-emission marine technologies creates a fertile ground for ACEL Power, whose modular, high-voltage electric propulsion systems are designed to offer seamless integration, smart connectivity, and scalable performance—attributes especially well-suited for the diverse marine use cases in the ASEAN market.
Strategic Partnership with En-Syst: Combining Global Innovation with Local Expertise
The partnership with En-Syst Equipment & Services, a respected regional provider of mission-critical energy and engineering solutions, represents more than a traditional distribution arrangement. It’s a strategic collaboration combining ACEL Power’s cutting-edge marine propulsion technologies with En-Syst’s decades of on-the-ground experience, deep technical capabilities, and robust customer relationships throughout Asia-Pacific.
“With over 30 years of experience supporting energy infrastructure, industrial automation, and maritime systems across the region, En-Syst brings unmatched insight and credibility to this market,” said Natasha Chawla, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at ACEL Power. “Their technical team understands the unique operational and regulatory challenges faced by commercial marine operators in Southeast Asia. This partnership is a major milestone for us as we scale globally, enabling us to deploy our Intelligent Electric Series into a region that is rapidly electrifying.”
A Fully Integrated, Intelligent Marine Propulsion Ecosystem

Under the agreement, En-Syst will distribute ACEL Power’s complete lineup of high-voltage electric propulsion systems, marketed as the Intelligent Electric Series. This includes:
- 50HP, 75HP, 150HP, and 250HP outboard motors,
- Inboard electric drive systems,
- The ACEL X-tend range extender for hybrid applications using gas or diesel-powered generators.
All motors are engineered with a systems-based approach. Each propulsion solution integrates modular LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery packs, a digital throttle control system, an onboard touchscreen interface, and built-in IoT connectivity. This results in a plug-and-play, intelligent propulsion platform that delivers industry-leading powertrain efficiency of up to 95.8%, real-time performance monitoring, and cloud-based diagnostics.
The battery packs are designed with a scalable architecture, allowing customers to customize range and endurance based on specific mission profiles—an essential feature for long-range coastal transport, high-usage ferries, or tourism operators seeking all-day electric operation.
“Our technology is designed to deliver not just propulsion, but a smarter, data-driven marine experience,” added Chawla. “From the motor to the helm, our system enables operators to optimize performance, reduce operational costs, and meet compliance requirements, all while delivering a quiet, zero-emission ride that passengers and marine life alike appreciate.”
En-Syst to Lead Regional Growth and Customer Enablement
As part of the distribution agreement, En-Syst will play a hands-on role in introducing ACEL Power’s solutions to the market through a comprehensive go-to-market plan. This includes:
- Maintaining local inventory and spare parts,
- Providing technical support and installation services,
- Deploying demo boats equipped with ACEL propulsion for customer trials,
- Supporting OEM activations and system integrations with regional boatbuilders,
- Leading regional marketing and trade show initiatives to build dealer and end-user awareness.
“Across Southeast Asia, we see rising interest from tourism operators, municipalities, and commercial fleets in electrification and digital marine solutions,” said Teo Han Leong, Director of En-Syst. “Partnering with ACEL Power enables us to bring a proven, future-ready solution to our customers. Whether they operate dive boats in Bali, ferries in Manila, or transport vessels in the Mekong Delta, they need propulsion systems that are clean, powerful, and smart. ACEL delivers exactly that.”
Teo also emphasized the importance of ACEL’s software-driven platform. “The value goes far beyond hardware. Real-time diagnostics, cloud updates, predictive maintenance alerts—these are all part of the digital transformation the maritime sector needs. We are proud to be working with a company that shares our commitment to performance, sustainability, and innovation.”
Accelerating the Region’s Shift to Electric Marine Transport
The partnership is timely, given the mounting pressure on marine operators to modernize fleets, comply with climate targets, and reduce environmental impacts. From protected waterways in Thailand to urban canals in Vietnam and eco-sensitive island routes in the Philippines, the adoption of electric vessels is becoming not just a choice, but a regulatory and reputational imperative.
By combining ACEL Power’s state-of-the-art technology with En-Syst’s regional footprint, technical capabilities, and customer network, the two companies aim to lead this transformation and shape the next chapter of maritime transport in Southeast Asia.
As the global marine industry moves toward a more sustainable future, ACEL Power’s entry into Southeast Asia signals a bold new phase in the company’s international growth strategy—and a major leap forward for the region’s marine electrification journey.
