Aircraft Performance Group (APG), a leading provider of aviation solutions, introduces NaviGuard, a free iOS app addressing the rising concerns of GPS spoofing and jamming incidents in crisis zones worldwide. The app offers real-time monitoring, active alerts, and in-flight GPS verification, ensuring safety for aviators and passengers.
In response to the FAA’s Safety Alert for Operators, NaviGuard empowers flight crews to detect abnormal GPS readings and verify data using radio navigation. Key features include:
- Anticipate Problems: Real-time monitoring helps pilots foresee and avoid issues caused by GPS spoofing and jamming.
- Set Active Alerts: In-app notifications alert pilots of danger zones, allowing rerouting or informed decision-making during flights.
- Plot & Confirm: In-flight GPS coordinate verification by mapping relative to Navigational Aids ensures accurate location information.
Shawn Mechelke, President of APG, emphasized the commitment to safe flight planning: “NaviGuard reinforces our dedication to safe and precise flight planning across the aviation industry, offering peace of mind to pilots and operators.”
The stand-alone iOS app is available for download on the app store. APG is also integrating NaviGuard into other applications, such as RocketRoute FlightPlan, following the acquisition of RocketRoute in 2021. It’s important to note that NaviGuard does not store or share users’ GPS data.
