Bahri Logistics, the logistics business unit of Bahri, Saudi Arabia’s leading shipping, maritime transport, and logistics company, has signed a newbuild agreement with Grandweld Shipyard for the construction of two advanced offshore support vessels. The investment is aimed at strengthening Bahri’s offshore service capabilities while supporting the Kingdom’s expanding energy logistics sector.
The new vessels will be purpose-built to meet the operational requirements of offshore activities at Ras Tanura Port, one of the world’s busiest energy hubs. Once delivered, they will enhance Bahri Logistics’ offshore operations by improving service reliability, operational flexibility, and responsiveness to customers in the energy and industrial sectors.
Designed for demanding offshore environments, each vessel will feature advanced navigation, communication, and safety systems to ensure efficient and reliable performance. The vessels will support a wide range of offshore operations, including vessel clearance procedures with relevant authorities, crew transfers, emergency response, maintenance and technical assistance, inspection support, and offshore facility services. They will also comply with the highest international maritime safety and environmental standards.
Commenting on the agreement, Eng. Soror Basalom, President of Bahri Integrated Logistics, said the partnership demonstrates Bahri Logistics’ commitment to expanding its offshore capabilities and strengthening Saudi Arabia’s logistics infrastructure. He noted that the investment in next-generation vessels reflects the company’s focus on innovation, safety, and operational efficiency while supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
Construction of the two vessels will take place at Grandweld Shipyard’s modern facility in Dubai Maritime City. Delivery is scheduled for August 2026 following a 12-month construction period.
The project forms part of Bahri’s long-term strategy to modernize its fleet, enhance technical capabilities, and introduce more energy-efficient and environmentally responsible vessels. Through continued investments in advanced technologies, infrastructure, and fleet expansion, Bahri Logistics aims to provide smarter, more sustainable logistics solutions while contributing to the Saudi Green Initiative and the Kingdom’s broader economic diversification goals.
