Breeze Airways is taking significant strides to expand its U.S. network by launching several new routes in May and June of 2025. This move is part of the airline’s overarching strategy to connect underserved and secondary markets, offering travelers more options for direct flights. As a result, Breeze aims to strengthen its position in the U.S. domestic air travel sector by providing more accessible and cost-effective flight options to regions with limited connectivity.

In 2024, Breeze Airways achieved impressive growth by adding 29 new airports to its network, and the airline shows no signs of slowing down. Now, it is introducing new routes to Memphis (Tennessee), Albany (New York), and Rochester (New York), marking another step forward in its expansion plan. These new routes will increase the airline’s ability to serve passengers traveling to and from smaller, underserved markets, which have traditionally lacked direct flight options to larger U.S. cities.

A Focus on Secondary Markets and New Routes

According to official data from the U.S. Department of Transportation, Breeze Airways is making impressive strides in connecting nearly 70 airports across the U.S. through more than 220 nonstop domestic routes. In fact, 87% of the airline’s routes remain noncompetitive, providing travelers with an opportunity to fly to destinations that have not been well served by other major airlines. The airline’s expansion is designed to capitalize on the growing demand for new air travel options in secondary markets, where passengers often face limited flight choices.

Memphis International Airport (MEM) will be one of the first to benefit from Breeze’s expansion. The airline will begin operating two new routes from MEM in May 2025. Starting on May 7, Breeze will offer twice-weekly flights between Memphis and Tampa, Florida, followed by a second route on May 9 that will provide twice-weekly service from Memphis to Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) in North Carolina. These routes are expected to provide much-needed options for travelers in the Memphis area and will help increase connectivity between the city and popular destinations in the southeastern U.S.

Albany International Airport (ALB) will also see new service from Breeze Airways in the coming months. Starting on June 5, the airline will begin offering twice-weekly flights between Albany and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), and on June 13, the airline will launch a second route from Albany to Charleston International Airport (CHS) in South Carolina. These routes are part of Breeze’s larger plan to expand service to regional hubs across the U.S., further strengthening its network and providing passengers with more flexible travel options.

Rochester International Airport (ROC) is another key focus for Breeze Airways, with new routes set to begin in May 2025. On May 8, the airline will introduce twice-weekly flights between Rochester and Charleston, South Carolina, followed by a second new route on May 9, which will offer twice-weekly service between Rochester and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU). These additions further enhance Breeze’s reach into smaller markets, providing both leisure and business travelers with more convenient travel options.

All of these new routes will be operated using the airline’s Airbus A220 aircraft, which is configured to carry up to 137 passengers. The addition of the Airbus A220s, which Breeze received 13 of in 2024, will help the airline meet growing demand while ensuring that it can offer a modern and efficient flying experience. By the end of 2024, Breeze’s fleet had grown to 33 Airbus A220s, in addition to 10 Embraer 190s and three E195s, which are utilized for both charter and scheduled operations.

Expanding the Seasonal and Existing Networks

In addition to these new permanent routes, Breeze Airways is also preparing for seasonal flights that will operate during the busy summer months. These new seasonal routes will give travelers even more options to visit popular destinations across the country. Starting May 1, Breeze will offer seasonal service between Fort Myers, Florida, and Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina. This will be followed by another new seasonal route on May 2 between Columbus, Ohio, and Portland, Maine. On May 30, Breeze will also introduce seasonal flights between Burlington, Vermont, and Charleston, South Carolina.

Other new seasonal routes include service between Westchester, New York, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, starting May 1, and between Raleigh-Durham and Pensacola, Florida, beginning April 30. These seasonal routes are expected to further drive the airline’s growth and provide passengers with more travel options during peak travel seasons, particularly to popular vacation destinations along the East Coast and Southeast U.S.

In addition to the seasonal flights, Breeze is also introducing new permanent routes that will help solidify its position in the U.S. air travel market. Starting May 22, Breeze will offer a new nonstop route between Akron-Canton, Ohio, and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), providing travelers with a direct connection between the Midwest and the West Coast. Furthermore, beginning May 9, the airline will launch permanent service between Orlando, Florida, and Raleigh-Durham, with flights operating four times per week.

Strong Financial Growth

Breeze Airways’ expansion comes on the back of impressive financial growth. In 2024, the airline reported a substantial $680 million in revenue, representing a remarkable 78% increase compared to the previous year. Furthermore, Breeze achieved a major milestone by recording its first quarterly operating profit in Q4 2024. With $200 million in revenue and a 4% operating margin, the airline is on a solid trajectory toward continued growth and financial stability.

CEO David Neeleman, who is known for his work in founding other successful airlines such as JetBlue, has emphasized that the airline’s expansion is driven by its focus on serving unserved routes, especially in secondary markets where demand for new air travel options remains high. By connecting smaller cities to major hubs and offering low-cost travel alternatives, Breeze is carving out a unique niche in the U.S. domestic air travel market.

The airline’s ability to continue expanding its fleet, launching new routes, and maintaining strong revenue growth will be crucial to its future success.
