In a significant move, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and the International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on aviation safety training and competency development. The agreement, signed by Mr. Han Kok Juan, Director-General of CAAS, and Capt. Amornvaj Mansumitchai, President of IFALPA at the Changi Aviation Summit, aims to elevate aviation safety standards and equip professionals to manage safety challenges effectively.
Under the MOU, the two organizations will:
(i) Co-develop and co-deliver training programs, along with organizing seminars and workshops addressing key issues like runway safety, human factors, and safety culture. The scope will expand to cover emerging topics in the future.
(ii) Establish a pool of instructors and resource persons for the collaborative development and delivery of aviation safety programs.
(iii) Utilize existing and established new outreach platforms to promote aviation safety and foster a strong safety culture within the aviation community.
Mr. Han Kok Juan emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating, “Aviation safety is a top priority for the Singapore air hub. This collaboration allows us to reach out to pilot communities globally and leverage IFALPA’s expertise, ultimately raising safety standards to new heights.”
Capt. Amornvaj Mansumitchai echoed this sentiment, expressing IFALPA’s honor in partnering with CAAS.
