Connecting Through Sustainable Travel Japan Airlines’ ʻOLUʻOLU! Honolulu! Project

The JAL Group has unveiled its latest initiative, ʻOLUʻOLU! Honolulu!, aimed at fostering “relationships and connections through travel” between Hawaiʻi and Japan. This project reimagines traditional travel by promoting comfort, sustainability, and cultural appreciation, highlighting the Hawaiian concept of ʻoluʻolu—a word meaning “agreeable” or “pleasantness.”

Program Overview

  • Duration: March 1–March 15, 2025
  • Applicable Flights: All JAL flights arriving in or departing from Honolulu during the program period
  • Special Offer: Passengers traveling on JAL flights during this period will receive 5 Life Status Points as a gesture of appreciation for supporting sustainability and building long-term connections with JAL.

Since its first international flight to Hawaiʻi in 1954, JAL has played a vital role in fostering cultural exchange and tourism between Japan and Hawaiʻi. With over 70 years of history, the airline continues to innovate through sustainable travel initiatives, including the “JAL2030 Sustainable Charter Flight” and the “Sustainable Challenge Flight.”

This program is part of JAL’s broader ESG strategy of “Creating Relationships and Connections through Travel.” It emphasizes values like encountering new landscapes, connecting with diverse people, and fostering affection for destinations.
