TRU Simulation Delivers First Unit Training Device for Multi-Engine Ground Training System; Contract Options Exercised

TRU Simulation + Training Inc. has reached a significant milestone with the acceptance of the first Unit Training Device (UTD) simulator under the Multi-Engine Training System (METS) and Ground-Based Training System (GBTS) contract. This contract, awarded by the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD), marks a crucial step in advancing pilot training for the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. The acceptance of this first simulator signifies the company’s commitment to delivering high-fidelity training solutions that enhance aviation training capabilities.

As part of the contract, TRU Simulation is responsible for providing three UTD simulators designed to support intermediate and advanced training for multi-engine aircraft. The contract also includes an Operational Flight Trainer (OFT) in the METS T-54A configuration, a Simulator Support Station (SSS), and 21 Desktop Avionics Trainers (DATs) for avionics classroom instruction. TRU Simulation will also offer device and maintenance instructor training, spares, and Contractor Logistics Services (CLS) at Corpus Christi, Texas.

“The successful acceptance of this first UTD simulator underscores TRU Simulation’s dedication to delivering cutting-edge, reliable, and mission-critical training solutions,” said Jerry Messaris, Vice President and General Manager of TRU Simulation. “This achievement highlights our commitment to ensuring that military aviators receive the most advanced and effective training tools available.”

Expansion of Contract and Additional Deliveries

A recent contract modification has expanded TRU Simulation’s responsibilities, including modernizing two additional UTDs, delivering four additional OFTs, and enhancing various support services. These modifications demonstrate the growing demand for high-quality flight training solutions and TRU Simulation’s ability to meet the evolving needs of military aviators.

In November 2024, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted a Letter of Equivalency for the UTD, officially designating it as a Level 7 Flight Simulation Training Device (FSTD). This designation affirms the simulator’s compliance with rigorous training standards, ensuring its effectiveness in pilot instruction.

TRU Simulation’s timely delivery of 21 Desktop Avionics Trainers further reinforces its commitment to supporting the METS program. These devices play a crucial role in classroom-based avionics training, providing students with hands-on experience in operating aircraft avionics systems.

Cutting-Edge Simulation Technology

TRU Simulation specializes in designing and manufacturing high-fidelity training devices, including full-motion simulators and advanced flight training solutions. The company is known for its ability to create realistic and immersive training environments that closely replicate actual flight conditions.

The UTD simulators provided under this contract feature state-of-the-art avionics, realistic cockpit instrumentation, and advanced visual displays. These features allow pilots to practice various flight scenarios, including emergency procedures, instrument flight training, and complex mission profiles, all within a controlled training environment.

“At TRU Simulation, we take pride in our ability to develop highly sophisticated training devices that enhance pilot proficiency and mission readiness,” added Messaris. “Our team remains dedicated to pushing the boundaries of flight simulation technology to provide the best training solutions for military and commercial pilots alike.”

Long-Term Impact on Military Training

The METS and GBTS contract is a significant initiative aimed at modernizing military flight training. By providing advanced simulators, TRU Simulation is helping to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of pilot training programs. These training devices enable aviators to gain critical flight experience in a safe and controlled environment before transitioning to real aircraft.

Additionally, the integration of high-fidelity simulators into training programs reduces costs associated with live flight training while enhancing safety. Pilots can practice emergency procedures, instrument navigation, and mission-critical operations without the risks associated with actual flight.

TRU Simulation’s involvement in the METS program aligns with the broader goals of the U.S. military to leverage advanced technology for pilot training. The company’s expertise in simulation technology ensures that trainees receive comprehensive and realistic instruction, preparing them for the demands of real-world flight operations.

Future Developments and Strategic Growth

With deliveries continuing through 2026, TRU Simulation remains focused on expanding its capabilities and enhancing its training solutions. The company’s ongoing investment in research and development ensures that its simulators remain at the forefront of flight training technology.

TRU Simulation’s success in securing and executing this contract highlights its reputation as a trusted provider of high-quality training solutions for military and civilian aviation. As demand for advanced flight training continues to grow, the company is well-positioned to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of aviation training.
