CSX Corporation (NASDAQ: CSX) has awarded the prestigious Platinum CSX Select Site designation to the Rickenbacker South Industrial Rail Park in Harrison Township, Pickaway County, Ohio.
Select Sites are premium, development-ready properties along the CSX rail network, pre-vetted to expedite construction for manufacturers. These sites are chosen based on their readiness, with essential land use and due diligence completed, helping companies reduce time-to-market for their products.
Rickenbacker South Industrial Rail Park spans 671 acres and lies adjacent to the CSX mainline near Columbus, Ohio. The property offers a strategic location for industries requiring substantial electric capacity, with over 100 MW available due to nearby transmission lines and a large substation.
Ohio Department of Transportation-backed plans ensure excellent road connectivity, with easy access to US Highway 23 and close proximity to Interstate 270, Columbus’s primary beltway, enhancing the park’s appeal for industrial use.
Launched in 2012, CSX’s Select Site program helps clients and communities with site selection through a partnership with Austin Consulting, a leading site-selection firm. Select Sites must meet stringent criteria, including infrastructure, utilities, zoning, environmental reviews, and proximity to major transport routes.
Since its inception, the program has facilitated significant investments across numerous Select Sites, attracting manufacturers, with capital investments nearing $17.7 billion and approximately 14,000 jobs created.
Rickenbacker South Industrial Rail Park is the third Ohio location to achieve Platinum CSX Select Site status. Across CSX’s network, only 27 properties have met these high standards.
