Factor, the leading ready-to-eat meal delivery service in America, has announced the donation of 10 refrigerated vans to hunger relief organizations in Aurora, IL, and Goodyear, AZ, where the company operates. This donation is part of Factor’s ongoing commitment to supporting food banks and partner agencies in the Feeding America network, providing ready-to-eat meals and surplus ingredients to individuals facing hunger.
By supplying these refrigerated vans, which are specifically equipped to transport perishable food items, Factor aims to tackle logistical challenges often faced by food pantries. As reported by Feeding America, 47 million people in the U.S. are food insecure, meaning they lack consistent access to food necessary for a healthy life. Food insecurity has far-reaching effects, impacting both physical and mental health, as well as educational and employment opportunities. Through its Fuel for Change program, Factor continues to contribute to alleviating hunger by donating meals to food pantries, community shelters, afterschool programs, and more.
“The rising cost of living has had a significant impact on families across the country, leading to an increase in food insecurity,” said Jeffrey Yorzyk, Senior Director of Sustainability at HelloFresh. “Factor is proud to support the communities where we operate. These 10 refrigerated vans will assist local food banks and pantries in providing fresh, nutritious food to those in need.”
Many food pantries struggle to provide fresh, healthy food due to limited storage capacity, tight budgets, and reliance on donations. The vans donated by Factor will enable these organizations to more efficiently source and distribute perishable meals, which require controlled temperatures for safe transportation.
“We are deeply grateful to Factor for its generous donation of meals and ingredients that support our mission to end hunger in America,” said Diane Letson, Vice President of Food Industry Partnerships at Feeding America. “The donation of these vans will help ensure that fresh food reaches communities quickly and safely.”
Julie Yurko, President and CEO of Northern Illinois Food Bank, one of the recipients of the donated vans, added, “Factor’s generosity demonstrates the powerful impact that partnerships can have in the fight against hunger. These vans will play a crucial role in helping us meet the growing demand for fresh, healthy food in our communities.”
Factor announced the van donation during a press conference at its Aurora distribution center, which also marked the milestone of one million meals donated to local residents in the greater Chicago area. The company reiterated its commitment to continuing the Fuel for Change program through 2025.
