FlightSafety International Inc. (FSI), a global provider of aviation training and simulation technology, has expanded its Columbus Learning Center, significantly increasing training capacity to support the growing demand for pilot and aviation professional training worldwide.
Located adjacent to John Glenn Columbus International Airport, the expanded facility now has the capacity to house 20 Full-Flight Simulators, up from 14 previously. The additional simulator space will enable FlightSafety to train more aviation professionals while enhancing access to advanced, high-fidelity simulation training.
The expansion marks another step in FlightSafety’s long-term investment in Central Ohio. Since opening the Columbus Learning Center in 1999, the company has expanded the site several times in response to increasing industry demand. In 2021, FlightSafety also relocated its global headquarters to Columbus, reinforcing its commitment to the region’s growing aerospace ecosystem, skilled workforce, and collaborative business and research environment.

The Columbus Learning Center currently employs more than 125 instructors who provide training for nearly 4,000 pilots annually, delivering approximately 175,000 hours of aviation instruction each year. Across its worldwide network of Learning Centers, FlightSafety provides approximately 2.3 million hours of aviation training annually.
With the expanded simulator capacity, the Columbus facility is expected to increase annual training reservations by approximately 42% as additional Full-Flight Simulators become operational. The expansion is also expected to support continued workforce growth at both the Learning Center and FlightSafety’s global headquarters while bringing more aviation professionals to Central Ohio.
FlightSafety currently employs more than 370 people across Central Ohio and continues to invest in advanced training technologies, workforce development, and customer experience initiatives. In addition, FSI Defense, a FlightSafety International company, supports military aviation training by providing simulation technology, flight instructors, and operational staff for training programs at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.
