Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines (SIA) are set to expand their flight frequencies between Jakarta and Singapore in late 2024, enhancing connectivity between these key Southeast Asian hubs.
From November 22, 2024, SIA will increase its daily services on this route from six to eight flights. Garuda Indonesia will also raise its daily flights from four to six, effective December 1, 2024. Additional flight details are provided in Annexe A.
The airlines will extend their codeshare agreement to include these new services. Currently, the two carriers codeshare on flights between Singapore and four Indonesian cities—Denpasar, Jakarta, Medan, and Surabaya—as well as on routes to London (Heathrow) and Mumbai. By December 1, 2024, they will operate 390 weekly codeshare services, including 362 flights between Singapore and Indonesia.
In early 2025, the two airlines will expand their frequent flyer program partnership, enabling GarudaMiles and KrisFlyer members to earn and redeem miles on these codeshare routes. Following regulatory approval for their joint commercial venture in July 2024, Garuda Indonesia and SIA plan to launch joint fare products in the first quarter of 2025, allowing customers to book combined itineraries on both airlines for flights between Singapore and Indonesian destinations such as Denpasar, Jakarta, and Surabaya.
The expanded partnership reflects a commitment from both airlines to enhance customer value and support tourism and business activities between Indonesia and Singapore. Potential future initiatives include joint revenue-sharing flights, coordinated schedules for improved connectivity, and collaborative sales and marketing activities.
Irfan Setiaputra, President and CEO of Garuda Indonesia, highlighted Singapore’s importance as a market, noting the strong growth in travel demand between the two countries. He emphasized that this expansion is part of Garuda’s strategy to meet market demand and support Indonesia’s post-pandemic tourism recovery by providing seamless connectivity to SIA’s European and Asian networks.
SIA’s CEO, Goh Choon Phong, expressed appreciation for the regulatory support enabling increased flights between Singapore and Jakarta, stressing that this partnership will offer more travel options and value to customers. He affirmed both airlines’ commitment to strengthening this strategic alliance, which aims to boost tourism and economic growth in both nations.
