In celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Gather AI, an inventory intelligence solution provider, announced a new partnership with Bosma Enterprises (Bosma), Indiana’s largest employer of individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Bosma offers a range of business solutions, including warehousing, contract packaging, light manufacturing, and product assembly, while also providing rehabilitation services, job training, and employment programs for people with vision loss.
With 70% of Americans who are blind or visually impaired being unemployed, Bosma strives to change this by employing over 50% of its staff from this community. Bosma offers opportunities for financial independence and empowers employees to lead productive lives.
Bosma has adopted Gather AI’s solution to enhance efficiency and productivity in their warehouse operations. The Gather AI system, known for its ease of installation and intuitive design, automates manual inventory tasks through the use of autonomous drones and advanced computer vision technology.
The AI-powered drones navigate warehouses autonomously without the need for GPS, WiFi, or infrastructure changes. Using machine learning algorithms, the system analyzes inventory data by interpreting barcodes, lot codes, expiration dates, case counts, and occupancy information. This real-time data enables warehouse operators to compare physical inventory with digital records in the warehouse management system (WMS), increasing scanning speed by 15 times and improving inventory accuracy by 66%.
Gather AI’s solution is accessible to Bosma’s visually impaired employees through voiceover and screen magnification features. Employees can easily participate in inventory management tasks as the voiceover provides step-by-step guidance for drone missions, including setup, launch, and landing. The automation takes care of the flight, making the process seamless for all employees, including those who are blind.
Jeffrey Mittman, President and CEO of Bosma, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “Gather AI enhances our inventory accuracy throughout the year. I’m thrilled to introduce this technology to our employees, as it offers new job opportunities within our company. Technology can bridge the gap when someone loses their vision, and these drones are a prime example of making processes efficient and accessible. Gather AI allows Bosma to cultivate new skills and create more employment opportunities.”
Gather AI’s CEO and Co-Founder, Sankalp Arora, Ph.D., added, “We aim to make our solution as user-friendly as possible. With warehouses facing pressures from supply chain delays and staff turnover, it’s an honor to support Bosma’s mission.
