Gatik’s Safety Case and Functional Safety Approaches Independently Reviewed by TÜV SÜD
Gatik, the leader in autonomous middle-mile logistics, announced that two key components of its Safety Assessment Framework—its Safety Case and Functional Safety methodologies—have been successfully reviewed by TÜV SÜD. This independent, third-party assessment marks a major milestone as Gatik prepares to launch its Freight-Only (driverless) commercial operations later this year.
TÜV SÜD, a globally recognized testing, inspection, and certification body with deep expertise in autonomous vehicle safety, found Gatik’s safety methodologies to be in line with the requirements of its Autonomous Vehicle Conformity Framework. This internationally recognized framework evaluates AV safety across development, testing, and deployment stages.
While self-certification remains common in the AV industry, Gatik’s approach stands out for its commitment to transparency and third-party validation. The assessment included a thorough review of Gatik’s Functional Safety portfolios—covering Operational Design Domain (ODD), Item Definition, Testing, Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA), Coverage and Safety Analysis, and Safety Culture. Each of these elements is linked to a broader Safety Case, providing end-to-end oversight and traceability.
TÜV SÜD’s evaluation serves as a progress checkpoint, validating Gatik’s alignment with rigorous safety benchmarks and laying the groundwork for future compliance with industry standards as the company scales its Freight-Only fleet.

Gatik’s Safety Assessment Framework includes over 700 safety portfolios across key domains: organizational safety culture, engineering quality (functional, behavioral, and operational safety), cybersecurity, vehicle safety, and alignment with UL 4600 and other safety standards. As part of its dedication to transparency, Gatik will release further updates on its safety progress ahead of its Freight-Only deployment.
