Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (G&W) achieved significant milestones in its commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility throughout the year. Some of the noteworthy accomplishments include:
- Development of a comprehensive greenhouse gas emissions inventory, facilitating the tracking of progress toward meeting science-based emissions reduction targets.
- Ongoing upgrades to the North American locomotive fleet, focusing on reducing fuel consumption and minimizing emissions. Additionally, G&W conducted pilot tests of alternative fuels in both the U.S. and the United Kingdom.
- Establishment of employee engagement groups to enhance organizational communication. G&W identified specific strategies to ensure equitable access to company information for all employees, spanning from corporate support to frontline roles.
- Emphasis on safety with over 300 railroad employees recognized individually for achieving over 20 years injury-free service. Nearly 1,800 safety audits were conducted to ensure secure practices across diverse physical working environments.
- Attainment of the highest-ever overall customer satisfaction score in a survey encompassing feedback from over 1,400 customers for the period of 2022-2023. This achievement reflects G&W’s dedication to effectively serving its customers and contributing to the prosperity of local communities.
