Japan Airlines Offers Exclusive Shochu in Business Class for One Day

Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (JAL), headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo, under the leadership of President Mitsuko Tottori, has been celebrating a special milestone with Mori-Izo Shuzo Co., Ltd. (based in Tarumizu City, Kagoshima Prefecture, led by President Satoshi Mori). Their premium Shochu, “Mori-Izo,” has marked 25 years of exclusive inflight sales aboard JAL flights since its introduction in 1998.

Shochu “Mori-Izo” has long been a favorite among First Class passengers on JAL’s domestic and international flights, appreciated for its superior quality and flavor. To express gratitude to loyal Business Class customers and introduce more passengers to this exquisite drink, JAL and Mori-Izo will offer Shochu “Mori-Izo” as a one-day-only inflight service in Business Class on December 15, 2024. This date coincides with the anniversary of the shochu’s initial release in 1986. It will be the first time the premium shochu is served in Business Class on international flights.

Shochu “Mori-Izo” is crafted with the utmost care using Kogane Sengan sweet potatoes, polished to perfection and blended with naturally filtered soft water from the Shirasu plateau of the Takakuma mountain range. Fermented with robust yeast native to the brewery and produced using the traditional “Kame-tsubo” method, this shochu boasts a smooth, flavorful taste and a refined aroma. Due to its limited production, it has earned a reputation as a rare and highly sought-after beverage worldwide.
