JetBlue Launches New Boston Flights to Madrid and Edinburgh
JetBlue, New England’s premier leisure-focused airline, has taken a significant step forward in its transatlantic expansion strategy with the launch of two new nonstop routes from Boston Logan International Airport to Madrid, Spain (MAD) and Edinburgh, Scotland (EDI). These daily seasonal flights, which will operate through October 25, 2025, further strengthen JetBlue’s growing presence in Europe and reinforce Boston Logan’s role as a vital international hub in JetBlue’s network.
These new routes reflect JetBlue’s continued commitment to offering travelers in the Greater Boston area more choices for affordable and comfortable transatlantic travel. They join an existing portfolio of popular European destinations already served by JetBlue from Boston, including London-Gatwick, London-Heathrow, Amsterdam, Dublin, and Paris. With these additions, JetBlue now provides seven daily nonstop flights between Boston and Europe during the peak summer travel season.
“As a carrier with deep roots in Boston, we are proud to expand our European reach and provide our customers with more ways to explore the world,” said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president of revenue, network, and enterprise planning at JetBlue. “JetBlue’s transatlantic service has proven highly popular thanks to our low fares, award-winning service, and the convenience of flying out of Logan. With these new routes, we’re not only opening up more of Europe to New England travelers, but also providing greater access to our broader network across the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean.”
A Historic First: JetBlue’s Inaugural Service to Spain
The launch of nonstop service to Madrid marks a major milestone for JetBlue as it becomes the airline’s first-ever route to Spain. With this new offering, JetBlue is the only U.S. airline currently providing nonstop flights between Boston and Madrid, giving travelers a convenient and affordable option to experience one of Europe’s most vibrant cities.
“We are thrilled to welcome JetBlue’s new route to Madrid, which represents the airline’s first entry into the Spanish market,” said Ed Freni, Executive Director of Aviation at Massport. “Madrid’s dynamic mix of culture, history, cuisine, and architecture makes it a perfect destination for New England travelers. This new connection will enhance the ease of travel to the Iberian Peninsula and beyond.”
Madrid offers an exceptional gateway to Spain’s many diverse regions, from the historic streets of Toledo and the beaches of Costa del Sol to the wine regions of Rioja and Ribera del Duero. Travelers can immerse themselves in the art collections at the Prado Museum, stroll through the lively Plaza Mayor, or enjoy traditional tapas and flamenco in local taverns.
JetBlue’s seasonal Boston-Madrid service will operate with the following schedule (all times local):
- Flight #2261 (BOS-MAD): Departs Boston at 10:25 p.m. and arrives in Madrid at 11:30 a.m. the next day.
- Flight #2260 (MAD-BOS): Departs Madrid at 1:30 p.m. and arrives in Boston at 3:24 p.m.
Edinburgh: Connecting New England to Scotland’s Storied Capital
The launch of JetBlue’s new nonstop route between Boston and Edinburgh also marks a meaningful expansion of the airline’s presence in the United Kingdom. This is JetBlue’s second seasonal route to Edinburgh, complementing its summer service from New York’s JFK Airport, and responds to growing demand for leisure travel to Scotland.
“Edinburgh’s cobblestone streets, medieval architecture, and vibrant cultural scene make it a must-visit destination,” said Martha J. Sheridan, President and CEO of Meet Boston. “These new flights offer incredible opportunities for cultural exchange and tourism between Boston and Scotland. Whether visitors are drawn to Boston’s academic institutions, historical landmarks, or tech-driven economy—or they’re heading to Edinburgh for its storied festivals and heritage sites—these connections make it all easier.”
Edinburgh is globally recognized for its charming old town, dramatic castle perched atop Castle Rock, and world-famous festivals such as the Edinburgh Fringe and International Festival. It is also a gateway to Scotland’s lush Highlands, whisky trails, and historic battlefields.
JetBlue’s Boston-Edinburgh route will follow this daily seasonal schedule through October 25, 2025 (all times local):
- Flight #1079 (BOS-EDI): Departs Boston at 10:30 p.m. and arrives in Edinburgh at 10:10 a.m. the following day.
- Flight #1080 (EDI-BOS): Departs Edinburgh at 12:10 p.m. and lands in Boston at 2:22 p.m.
