The B&O Railroad Museum, the motherland of American railroading, is pleased to advertise that Joe Hinrichs, President and CEO of the CSX Corporation will president the Museum’s$ 30 million bone
capital crusade to transfigure the Museum’s lot in medication for the 200th Anniversary of American Railroading in 2027.
The B&O Railroad Museum is a major point located in Baltimore, Maryland, on the original grounds of the Baltimore & Ohio road, the first commercially chartered road in the country in 1827. The Museum’s lot extends 40 acres into Southwest/ West Baltimore and contains the first afar of marketable track ever laid in the country, 8 major structures including the 1851Mt. Clare Station lately designated a National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Site, and the beautiful 1884 Roundhouse. As a public major corner, the Museum annually receives callers from all 50 United States and over 40 countries.
The Museum plans to restore the South Car workshop structure located on its property, the oldest, continuously operating road form installation in the United States if not the world, 1869 – 1990. In restoring this nationally significant 33,000 square bases erecting and making it the new entrance to the Museum, the Museum will revise its lot inflow to face Southwest Baltimore to spark community profitable development. The restored structure will produce space for an Innovation Hall to parade the present and future of American railroading technology, add state- of- the- art educational space, and house the Museum’s expansive literal libraries.
To protest off the crusade, the CSX Corporation has bestowed a gift of$ 5 million to the crusade to make the “ CSX Bicentennial Garden, ” an theater andmulti-use space that can host original associations and hold community gatherings. This installation will serve as a vibrant event space and give a fresh, new position to drink callers to the gallery. CSX is the first commercial patron to pledge support for the crusade.
