LATAM to Launch Nonstop Service Between Lima and Curaçao in December 2025
As Curaçao continues to grow its global reputation as a premier travel destination, the island is set to welcome a significant new air connection that will enhance its accessibility and visibility within South America. The Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB), in partnership with Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP), has officially announced that LATAM Airlines will launch a new direct route between Lima, Peru (LIM) and Curaçao (CUR), starting on December 2, 2025.
This milestone development marks a strategic step in Curaçao’s ongoing efforts to diversify its tourism base and solidify its position as a leading Caribbean destination. The new route is expected to facilitate increased travel from key South American markets, creating more seamless options for both leisure and business travelers.
Direct Service Details and Strategic Value
The upcoming LATAM-operated route will run three times weekly—on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays—offering travelers flexible options for planning their itineraries. The service will be operated with either an Airbus A319 aircraft, which features 138 seats in both Economy and Premium Economy classes, or an Airbus A320, with a total capacity of 174 seats.
The flight schedule is designed for traveler convenience:
- Departure from Lima (LIM): 12:00 PM
- Arrival in Curaçao (CUR): 5:40 PM
- Departure from Curaçao (CUR): 6:45 PM
- Arrival in Lima (LIM): 10:25 PM
This direct connection from Peru’s capital opens the door for efficient access not only from Lima, but also from cities such as Buenos Aires (Argentina), Santiago de Chile (Chile), Montevideo (Uruguay), Asunción (Paraguay), Córdoba, and Mendoza. The flight times are optimized for regional connections through LATAM’s expansive network, ensuring a smooth and time-effective journey to the island.
According to Muryad de Bruin, General Manager of the Curaçao Tourist Board, this route is more than just a logistical convenience; it represents a strategic investment in tourism growth and regional integration.
“We are excited to announce this new direct connection from Lima, a key step in our expansion across South America and in strengthening tourism between Curaçao and markets such as Peru, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, and Brazil,” said de Bruin. “This new route opens the door directly to travelers seeking a unique experience on an island full of culture and color. LATAM is becoming a strategic partner for our region, and its commitment to Curaçao demonstrates strong demand and confidence in the destination.”
The announcement follows a record-breaking year for tourism arrivals in Curaçao. In 2024, the island experienced unprecedented visitor growth, buoyed by new routes, enhanced infrastructure, and a growing portfolio of accommodations. The Lima-Curaçao route is expected to further build on that momentum and attract a broader segment of international visitors.
A Growing Destination at a Pivotal Moment
The timing of this launch couldn’t be better. According to the latest Google Flights Trends Report for Summer 2025, Curaçao has emerged as the international destination with the highest increase in search interest among American travelers. The data reflects a significant shift in travel preferences, with Curaçao’s cultural richness, vibrant architecture, and pristine beaches resonating with discerning globetrotters.
This growing demand underscores the importance of continued airlift expansion. LATAM’s new service represents a crucial piece of the puzzle, linking South America more closely to Curaçao’s dynamic tourism offering. It also aligns with the island’s broader vision of becoming a sustainable, high-value destination.
In a step toward balancing growth with environmental responsibility, Curaçao has partnered with Sustainable Travel International to conduct a comprehensive carrying capacity study. This initiative will assess the economic, social, and LATAM ecological impacts of tourism on the island, helping stakeholders identify sustainable development paths that protect Curaçao’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, and community well-being.
The study is an example of Curaçao’s commitment to thoughtful tourism management. Rather than focusing solely on increasing arrivals, the island is prioritizing low-impact, high-value tourism—the kind that benefits both visitors and locals, and contributes positively to the island’s long-term future.
LATAM’s Commitment to Regional Development
From LATAM’s perspective, the Lima-Curaçao route reinforces the carrier’s commitment to expanding regional connectivity and supporting tourism-based economic development across Latin America.
“At LATAM Peru, we are very pleased to continue connecting the country to the world and to strengthen the Lima hub with the LATAM upcoming inauguration of these two new routes, which will operate from the new Lima airport terminal,” said Manuel van Oordt, CEO of LATAM Airlines Peru. “In the first year alone, we expect to transport more than 34,500 passengers to Curaçao and nearly 41,000 to Tucumán, contributing to the development of tourism in Peru and the country’s trade with the world.”
The new service also fulfills a long-standing goal for Curaçao Airport Partners to complete its strategic connection map for South America.
“We are very pleased and extend a warm welcome to LATAM Peru,” said Peggy Croes, Senior Vice President of Aviation Market Development at CAP. “With the announcement of the new direct flight between Lima and Curaçao, we have completed our strategic connection map with South America. This new service will complement and strengthen our connectivity in the region, offering an additional and convenient route to the island.”
Investment in Infrastructure and Hospitality

As air connectivity grows, Curaçao’s hospitality sector is keeping pace with significant investments in infrastructure and accommodations. New hotel projects are already underway, reflecting confidence in the island’s tourism outlook.

These developments align with Curaçao’s identity as an upscale yet authentic Caribbean destination that caters to a wide variety of travelers—from honeymooners and adventure seekers to families and solo explorers.
Embracing Culture, Connection, and Community
As Curaçao continues to attract international attention, leaders within the island’s tourism sector remain focused on maintaining the authenticity and cultural richness that define the Curaçao experience.
“Curaçao’s hospitality sector is in the midst of a truly exciting chapter, with new developments, renovations, and creative experiences taking place across the island,” said Anuschka Cova, CEO of the Curaçao Hospitality & Tourism Association (CHATA). “We at CHATA are excited about the new Peru-Curaçao route, which offers more travelers the opportunity to explore our vibrant culture while maintaining the authenticity that makes our island unique.”
Cova emphasized that Curaçao’s appeal lies in more than just beautiful beaches—it’s about soulful experiences, community, cuisine, music, and heritage.
“As we welcome new travelers from South America on this route, we invite them to immerse themselves in everything that makes Curaçao special: our rich cultural heritage, flavorful cuisine, and unforgettable celebrations. There’s no better time to experience the soul of our island.”
With the December 2025 launch of direct service from Lima, Curaçao is not only adding a new flight route—it is inviting a broader world to discover its beauty, vibrancy, and potential. As the island moves forward with a clear vision for sustainable tourism, this new connection is set to serve as a vital link in strengthening cultural exchange and economic growth across the region.
