New AAdvantage Business Select Boosts Value for SMBs

American Airlines Introduces AAdvantage Business Select Tier to Deliver More Value for Growing Companies

American Airlines is enhancing its AAdvantage Business™ program with a new premium tier aimed at helping small and midsized businesses unlock more value from their travel budgets. Beginning July 21, companies with elevated travel needs can access even greater rewards through the launch of the new AAdvantage Business Select™ tier.

AAdvantage Business™: Designed for Companies and Their Travelers

The AAdvantage Business™ program was built to reward both businesses and their employees for booking travel with American Airlines. It offers a dual-reward system where companies earn AAdvantage® miles, while registered travelers accrue Loyalty Points. These points help individuals progress more quickly toward AAdvantage® status, which comes with valuable benefits like priority services and upgrades.

Whether bookings are made through aa.com, the American Airlines mobile app, or via a preferred travel agency, the program ensures that rewards are earned consistently and seamlessly. Plus, businesses have access to a set of essential management tools — including detailed reporting, traveler oversight, and duty of care features — all designed to streamline travel coordination and enhance visibility into spend and performance.

Importantly, the program is free to join and offers flexibility in how companies and employees earn and use their rewards.

Earning and Redeeming Miles with AAdvantage Business™

Businesses earn 1 AAdvantage® mile for every $1 spent on eligible travel booked by registered employees. At the same time, employees who register with their employer’s AAdvantage Business™ account can earn additional Loyalty Points toward elite status.

Companies that meet a modest baseline — having at least five active registered travelers and $5,000 in qualifying spend — can redeem miles earned through business travel for award flights or transfer them directly to employees. For cardmembers of the Citi® / AAdvantage® Business™ World Elite Mastercard®, even these minimum requirements are waived, allowing more immediate access to benefits.

This combination of perks makes AAdvantage Business™ especially appealing to small and medium-sized businesses looking to turn routine travel into a more strategic advantage.

Introducing AAdvantage Business Select™: A Premium Tier for High-Volume Travelers

To support companies with more substantial travel needs, American Airlines is launching a new elevated tier within the program — AAdvantage Business Select™. This tier is available to companies that reach $250,000 or more in eligible travel spend within a calendar year.

Membership in the Select tier unlocks a range of exclusive benefits, including:

  • Savings of up to 4% on eligible airfare.
  • Preferred Group 5 boarding for registered business travelers.
  • Immediate access to mileage redemptions, including the ability to transfer company-earned miles to employees without meeting the lower-tier thresholds.

These benefits are designed to deliver more flexibility, cost efficiency, and recognition to companies that have made business travel a key part of their operations.

Companies that do not meet the $250,000 spend threshold will continue to enjoy the existing benefits of the standard AAdvantage Business™ program. There are no changes to the experience for these members, ensuring continued value and ease of participation regardless of a company’s size.

A Step Forward in Business Travel Rewards

“The AAdvantage Business™ program was designed to meet small and medium-sized businesses where they are and provide them with a way to make business travel more seamless and valuable,” said Lucas Martin, Senior Vice President of Sales at American Airlines. “Adding the AAdvantage Business Select™ tier allows us to further enhance the benefits that our most valuable members earn.”

With the addition of the Select tier, American Airlines continues to demonstrate its commitment to evolving alongside its customers. The airline understands that business travel is not one-size-fits-all, and as companies grow and travel more, they deserve a program that grows with them.

Whether a business is just starting to book travel or is already investing significantly in employee mobility, the AAdvantage Business™ program provides a scalable solution that turns travel into tangible rewards.

Enroll and Learn More

Companies interested in joining the program can do so quickly and easily. Enrollment is free, and benefits begin as soon as employees start traveling. For companies already enrolled, tracking toward the Select tier begins automatically based on spend.
