New Multi-Mission Beechcraft King Air Demonstrator Debuts at Paris Air Show
Textron Aviation Inc., a subsidiary of Textron Inc has officially introduced its latest multi-mission Beechcraft King Air demonstrator aircraft, marking its first appearance in both Europe and a major international venue at the 2025 Paris Air Show. This high-utility aircraft, tailored to showcase the extensive mission capabilities of the iconic King Air platform, will be on static display at the Textron Pavilion A2 from Monday, June 16 through Thursday, June 19.
Designed to highlight the King Air’s enduring value and unmatched adaptability in a variety of roles—from military surveillance to medevac transport—the aircraft exemplifies why the King Air remains one of the most widely used turboprops for special mission operations around the world.
Showcasing Versatility: A New Benchmark in Multi-Mission Design
At the heart of the Paris Air Show unveiling is Textron Aviation’s commitment to serving the complex and evolving needs of military, government, and commercial clients seeking dependable, multi-role airborne platforms. The new demonstrator King Air is fitted with a suite of factory-installed enhancements that enable it to perform a wide variety of demanding missions.
Notable among the upgrades are extended range (ER) fuel tanks that enable longer operational endurance, a specially extended utility nose capable of housing sensors—including electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) systems up to 20 inches in diameter—and an under-fuselage lift kit. In addition, factory-installed wing hardpoint provisions allow the aircraft to support external payloads, such as sensor pods or equipment for maritime patrol missions. A cargo door is also installed, facilitating rapid role change between freight transport and air ambulance operations.
“The King Air’s acquisition and operational costs, when combined with its proven speed, range, and payload performance, make it a cost-effective solution for a wide variety of mission profiles,” said Bob Gibbs, Vice President of Special Missions Sales at Textron Aviation. “This aircraft continues to prove itself across the globe, and we’ve seen significant interest in Europe—particularly with our Cargo Door King Air 360C variant being used extensively in air ambulance roles.”
Optimized for Operational Excellence
The aircraft is powered by a pair of Pratt & Whitney PT6A-67A engines, equipped with dual oil coolers to enhance hot-and-high performance. This ensures robust operation from challenging airfields and contributes to strong climb capabilities and efficient cruise speeds.
The interior of the demonstrator is customized for operational flexibility. It features a mission equipment rack with integrated displays and a mission computer for data processing and real-time decision-making. Passenger seating includes Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) VIP-style seats, as well as AvFab and LifePort mission-configured seating. The aircraft also includes a LifePort medevac stretcher system for emergency medical operations. Notably, the cockpit is compatible with Night Vision Imaging Systems (NVIS), making the aircraft well-suited for nighttime or low-light missions.
These features collectively allow the aircraft to function in numerous roles, including:
- Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR)
- Search and Rescue (SAR)
- Air Ambulance (MEDEVAC)
- Cargo and Utility Transport
- Crew and VIP Transport
- Pilot and Crew Training
