Phillip Sarofim, founding partner and CEO of global venture capital firm Trousdale Ventures, has been appointed to the National Air and Space Museum Board. This honor reflects Sarofim’s lifelong commitment to advancing innovations that positively impact lives and the planet. Sarofim joins Hillwood Aviation President and CEO Matt Byrd on the board, with both appointments made in August 2024.
“It is a distinct honor to serve on the National Air and Space Museum Board,” said Sarofim. “Trousdale Ventures was created to support ambitious founders who are developing innovative solutions for a better future. This opportunity to explore the past, present, and future of air and space innovations aligns with our mission and will help inspire future generations.”
The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and exhibiting artifacts, archival materials, and works of art related to aviation, spaceflight, and the universe. Its research and outreach efforts engage audiences at both the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., and the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia. The museum honors the past while educating and inspiring the public about the significance of flight to humanity.
“We are grateful for the Board’s continued support in advancing our mission and expanding our vision within the aerospace community,” said Chris Browne, the John and Adrienne Mars Director of the National Air and Space Museum. “Leaders like Phillip Sarofim play a crucial role in helping us achieve our ambitious goals of sharing the wonders of aviation and space with as many people as possible.”
Sarofim and Trousdale Ventures have demonstrated strong support for the air and space industry through investments in companies like CesiumAstro and Venus Aerospace, which are at the forefront of high-speed flight and space exploration advancements.
