Surf Air Mobility Inc. (NYSE: SRFM), a leader in regional air mobility, has announced the delivery of four Cessna Grand Caravan EX turboprop aircraft from Textron Aviation. These deliveries mark the initial phase of Surf Air’s previously declared fleet order with Textron Aviation, signaling a significant step in the company’s growth and transformation plans.
The acquisition of these aircraft includes financing for two through operating leases with ITC-AeroLeasing, Inc., a Japanese-based aircraft financing partner with a strong presence in the global business aviation market. To commemorate this milestone, a delivery event was held at Textron Aviation’s manufacturing facility in Independence, Kansas, with representatives from both companies in attendance.
“We’re excited to immediately deploy these first four Grand Caravans onto our network to further enhance the profitability of our airline operations,” stated Deanna White, CEO of Surf Air Mobility. “With our fleet order with Textron Aviation, we’re continuing to deliver on our Transformation Plan. Every new Caravan increases our operational efficiency and enhances the passenger experience.”
Surf Air, recognized as the largest commuter airline in the U.S. by scheduled departures, is also one of the leading operators of Cessna Caravans in the country. The company plans to use the new fleet to modernize its existing aircraft, expand its network, and introduce new routes across various regions.
The delivery also reinforces the partnership between Surf Air and ITC-AeroLeasing. “We’re excited to partner with Surf Air Mobility to finance the initial deliveries of their Cessna Caravan fleet,” said Mirika Nakayama, CEO of ITC-AeroLeasing. “We believe in Surf Air’s leadership and their ability to profitably grow their footprint with these new aircraft.”
Additionally, Surf Air is working on proprietary electrified powertrain technology for the Cessna Grand Caravan in collaboration with Textron Aviation. This technology aims to transform air mobility by reducing emissions and operational costs. Textron Aviation is committed to supporting Surf Air in this endeavor, furthering advancements in sustainable aviation. Surf Air intends to upgrade its fleet with electrified powertrains and offer this technology to third-party operators for passenger and cargo transport.
Surf Air Mobility, the parent company of Surf Air, Southern Airways, and Mokulele Airlines, continues to establish itself as a pioneer in regional air travel, combining operational efficiency with innovative technology to revolutionize the industry.
